Ford F-150 fuel injectors are designed for long life. Whereas regular cleaning will hold the gasoline injectors performing well, gas injectors have transferring parts that put on out. Worn or damaged fuel injectors result in insufficient or too much gas being consumed throughout the combustion process. Incorrect gas combustion may end in harm to the engine or catalytic converter. Fuel injectors which are worn or damaged ought to be replaced. To keep away from future failures, if one Fuel Injector has gone dangerous due to wear and tear, replacement of all of the injectors is recommended.

Access the Fuel Injector

1. Depressurize the gas system. In case your automobile is supplied with a fuel security lower-off switch–often situated on the passenger facet front foot panel on the F-150–entry and remove the electronic plug. This may disable the fuel pump. Activate the engine several instances to remove any gasoline pressure within the lines. The engine won’t stay began, this is normal.
2. Disconnect the battery cables to avoid fireplace hazards when working with fuel.
3. Take away any engine shroud, air consumption tube, vacuum lines and other bolt-on equipment that limit entry to the fuel rails. Unbolt the fuel rail from the engine. The metal fuel rail will likely be braced to the engine with one or two bolts.
4. Take away the Fuel Injector electronics plug from every injector to be replaced.
5. Carry the fuel rails off the fuel injectors. Carry the top of the fuel rail closest to the bumper and pop each Fuel Injector free. Some injectors will keep in the engine and others will stay in the gasoline rail. All injectors which might be freed from either the engine or fuel rail will want new o-rings.
6. Remove the gas injector from each the engine and the gasoline rail. Examine the injector for missing o-rings. Two o-rings ought to exist, one for the highest connection on the gas rail, and one for the underside connection to the engine. Locate the missing o-rings and discard.

Fuel Injector Replacement Instructions

1. Exchange the o-rings with new o-rings. Lubricate the brand new o-rings with motor oil and slide over the ends of the gas injectors. New injectors commonly come with o-rings installed. Lubricate the pre-installed o-rings with motor oil. A drop of oil in your finger smeared on the o-ring is sufficient.
2. Insert the new fuel injector into the engine hole. Press downward till the gasoline injector is seated properly. A popping sensation could also be felt, but not always. Pull upward on the injector. A properly seated injector will resist removal.
3. Exchange all o-rings on the injectors from which the fuel rail was removed. Substitute the fuel rail on each injector.
4. Bolt the fuel rail to the engine and exchange any bolt-on equipment removed to access the gasoline rail. Exchange the gasoline injector electronics plugs. Substitute any vacuum traces removed. Exchange the air intake tube. Change the engine shroud, if equipped.
5. Reconnect the battery. Reconnect the gasoline safety cut-off switch plug. Flip the ignition key to the electronics only mode for 5 seconds and switch off. Repeat the ignition key on/off sequence twice to permit the gasoline pump to pressurize the fuel line. Inspect the fuel rails for leaks and repair. If crucial, return to step 1.
6. Start the vehicle to substantiate installation.
